Engage Your Local MP

Write to your local MP and ask them to register their place at Westminster and add their voice to those calling for reform.

Your voice is one of the most powerful tools we have to drive political change.

While data and policy briefings provide the facts, your personal story brings those facts to life. It helps MPs understand the real impact of B12 deficiency on the people they represent.

Personalising your letter makes a real difference. It turns a health issue into a human one, showing your MP exactly how these challenges affect their own constituents. By sharing your experience - your journey to diagnosis, to the impact on your daily life, and your hopes for better care - you can help encourage them to attend the reception and support meaningful change in Parliament.

The B12 Alliance would also value hearing your story. If you’re happy to do so, please consider copying your letter to patient@b12alliancewestminster.org.uk. We will not use any part of your message without first contacting you to ask for your permission.

Subject Line: Invitation: B-12Alliance House of Commons Reception – 10 September 2026 - [PUT YOUR POSTCODE IN THE HEADING TO ENSURE YOUR EMAIL OR LETTER IS READ]

Dear [MP Name],

As one of your constituents, I am writing to cordially invite you to a crucial parliamentary reception focused on the systemic challenges surrounding Vitamin B12 deficiency in the UK.

Event Details:

  • Date: Thursday, 10 September 2026

  • Time: 2:00pm – 4:00pm

  • Location: The Terrace, House of Commons

  • Host: B-12Alliance

  • Sponsor: Karl Turner MP

Vitamin B12 deficiency is a serious, often misunderstood condition affecting hundreds of thousands of people across the UK. If left undiagnosed or inadequately treated, it can lead to irreversible neurological damage, severe physical disability, and profound psychological distress.

Despite its impact, many patients currently face a "postcode lottery" in their care. Outdated diagnostic thresholds often lead to misdiagnosis, frequently mistaken for conditions like MS, ME/CFS, or mental health disorders, while rigid treatment protocols often fail to address the clinical needs of those with neurological symptoms.

My Personal Story:

[Constituents: Insert your personal journey here. You may wish to highlight:

  • How B12 deficiency has impacted your daily life, mobility, or memory, your work and relationships.

  • The length of time it took to receive an accurate diagnosis or how you had to resort to other sources of support

  • Any challenges you have faced in accessing regular treatment or injections.

  • The reality of living with "invisible" cognitive and physical symptoms.]

This reception serves as a vital platform to discuss the urgent need for a National Strategy for B12 Deficiency.  The B-12 Alliance will demonstrate how improving patient autonomy through better education, better access to replacement B12 and a Self-Administration Protocol can improve patient outcomes while reclaiming millions of nursing hours for the NHS.

Your attendance would be greatly appreciated to show support for those in [Constituency Name] affected by this debilitating condition and to discuss how we can work together to ensure no patient suffers preventable neurological harm.

B12 deficiency has a number of underlying causes and affects 6% of the population rising to between 10% and 20% in the over 60s.  Please confirm your attendance by Thursday, 27 August 2026, by emailing info@b12alliancewestminster.org.uk

As your constituent, I truly hope you can attend this important event and help us bring much-needed change to B12 care in the UK.

With best wishes,
